Why Salmiya students
Salmiya — the commercial spine of Hawally Governorate running from Salem Al Mubarak Street to the Arabian Gulf Street promenade — has the densest concentration of British-curriculum families in Kuwait. IGCSE Mathematics candidates here are almost all sitting Cambridge: New English School (NES) on Hamoud Al Roumi Street is one of Kuwait's only "Outstanding"-rated British schools and runs Cambridge IGCSE 0580/0625/0610-series papers; English School Salmiya (ESS) in Block 10 sits the same Cambridge boards; and Kuwait National English School (KNES) in Hawally feeds Cambridge alongside the commutable British School of Kuwait (BSK) in Salwa which mixes Cambridge IGCSE with Edexcel. The Salmiya gap is not content — it is the volume of past-paper drilling needed to convert a 7 into an 8 or 9, especially while juggling Salem Al Mubarak tutoring traffic and the Gulf Road commute from Block 11/12 residential to Salwa. Our Salmiya IGCSE Mathematics tutors map week-by-week to NES, ESS and BSK schemes of work.
Exam boards we cover
The dominant IGCSE route across Salmiya — sat by New English School (NES), English School Salmiya (ESS), Kuwait National English School (KNES) and the commutable British School of Kuwait (BSK) in Salwa. Extended tier is required for any student progressing to A-Level Mathematics.
Used by Edexcel-aligned British curriculum schools in and around Salmiya. Higher tier broadly comparable to Cambridge Extended, with slightly different question phrasing.
A smaller cohort of Salmiya students sit Oxford AQA International GCSE — particularly those moving between UK and Kuwait schools mid-cycle.
Syllabus coverage
Our IGCSE Mathematics tutors cover the full specification with extra depth on the topics where Salmiya students most consistently lose marks.
Integers, fractions, percentages, surds, indices, standard form and ratio — banked easy marks.
Expanding, factorising, linear and quadratic equations, simultaneous equations and curve sketching.
Straight-line graphs, gradient, midpoint and equations of lines.
2D and 3D shapes, area, volume, circle theorems and Pythagoras — highest-mark Extended theory.
Sine and cosine rules, bearings, angles of elevation and depression.
Column vectors, translations, reflections, rotations and enlargements.
Tree diagrams, Venn diagrams, cumulative frequency, box plots and histograms.
CIE 0580 and Edexcel 4MA1 mark-scheme work — how examiners reward working, layout and final answers.
We work with students at leading IGCSE institutions across Salmiya.
What we fix
How we fix it:Kuwait MoE drops school hours to roughly three hours during Ramadan and pauses for Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha. We front-load Mathematics content before Ramadan starts, hold lighter consolidation sessions during the shortened week, and run intensive Eid catch-up blocks evenings on Kuwait time (AST, GMT+3) for NES, ASK and BSK students.
How we fix it:The 25-26 February public-holiday block sits directly inside NES January-February Mock Week and the BSK mid-year diet. We rebuild the Mathematics revision calendar around that holiday — adding pre-holiday timed past-paper sessions and a post-holiday mock-correction block — so Salmiya students don't lose the week to the long weekend.
How we fix it:New English School runs Mock Week in full Cambridge conditions and uses the marks to set UCAS Predicted Grades, while ASK and UAS students lose May to the CollegeBoard AP window. We deliver a 6-8 week Mathematics prep block of full timed Cambridge 9709/9700-style papers (or AP FRQ sets), marked against the live examiner reports.
How we fix it:It is normal in Salmiya for one sibling to be on Cambridge IGCSE at NES while another is on AP at ASK or IB DP at BBS. We hold separate Mathematics progress notes per child and per board, so a single weekly parent summary covers Cambridge 0580 + AP + IB DP without the tutor mixing rubrics.
How we fix it:The Gulf Road and Fifth Ring Road commute from Salmiya Sea Side and Block 11/12 to ASK (Hawally), BSK (Salwa), AIS (Salwa) and UAS (Khaldiya) easily costs an hour each way at peak. All Mathematics lessons are online 1-to-1 in Kuwait time so the student is at the desk the moment they're home, not stuck behind Salem Al Mubarak Street traffic.
Why ComboTutors
NES gets a Cambridge 0580 / 9709 examiner-trained Mathematics specialist; English School Salmiya the same Cambridge route; BSK a tutor fluent in both Cambridge International and IB DP; BBS an IB DP HL/SL Mathematics specialist; ASK, UAS and GEMS American Academy a CollegeBoard AP-trained tutor who drills MCQ + FRQ to the published rubric.
Every Mathematics plan is paced around Ramadan's 3-hour school day, Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha, Kuwait National Day (25 Feb), Liberation Day (26 Feb), the NES January Mock Week and the May AP / May IB exam windows — lessons online in Kuwait time (AST, GMT+3), evenings and weekends.
Every Salmiya Mathematics session uses live Cambridge International (0580/9709/9701/9702/9700), Edexcel IAL, IB DP or CollegeBoard AP past papers with the published mark schemes and examiner reports — the same documents NES, BSK, ASK and BBS staff mark against.

IGCSE Mathematics in Salmiya
New English School sits Cambridge International for IGCSE Mathematics — Cambridge IGCSE 0580/0625/0610-series at IGCSE and Cambridge International 9709/9701/9702/9700 at A-Level. Our NES-matched tutors work directly off those codes, the published examiner reports and the NES Mock Week marking standard.
Yes. ASK in Hawally is one of our largest Salmiya-area cohorts. Our AP Mathematics tutors are CollegeBoard-trained, drill the May AP exam MCQ + FRQ rubric, and pace the year around the ASK quarterly assessments and the May AP window. We also cover UAS, GEMS American Academy, AIS Salwa and KNES on the same AP track.
Multi-board households are the Salmiya norm. We assign one tutor per child — a Cambridge specialist for the NES sibling on IGCSE Mathematics and a CollegeBoard AP specialist for the ASK sibling — and consolidate into one weekly parent summary and one billing line, so the rubrics never get mixed.
Yes. We pre-book lighter consolidation slots through the Ramadan 3-hour school timetable, pause for Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha, and replan IGCSE Mathematics mock-prep around the 25 February Kuwait National Day and 26 February Liberation Day long weekend that cuts through NES Mock Week.
Yes. Al Bayan Bilingual School (BBS) in Hawally and British School of Kuwait (BSK) in Salwa are the two IB DP anchors for Salmiya families. Our IB tutors are matched by HL/SL track, work to the current IB subject guide, support the Internal Assessment and pace revision to the May session.
IGCSE Mathematics tutoring starts at KWD 14/hour (≈ USD 45). NES-aligned Cambridge examiners and ASK-aligned AP specialists price at KWD 18-22/hour. The first trial lesson is free and there are no minimum-term contracts.
